Ion Exchange Resins

There is another option to be used as Secondary Decoloration Plant – Ion Exchange Resins.

This process presents several advantages that can be compared with the GAC process, as-

Cost for installation is relatively lower than the GAC. This advantage is changing now due the high cost of special chemical used to fabricate the Resins.

Plant is relatively more simple that the GAC unit. Equipment are small than the GAC equipments. System can run totally automated

But there are some important and critical points to be analyzed-

Operational cost is higher than the GAC

There is a high volume of final Effluent which treatment is very expensive and always there will be a final material to be discarded.

To solve the Effluent problem there is a new technology used by several Refineries – the Nano Filtration process.
